Students at Fresno State University spent three book-filled days with me last week in the printmaking studio. Many were experimenting with the book as an art form for the first time. We covered a variety of paper engineering techniques, and ended the class by constructing a carousel book.
One of the problems with teaching a short workshop is that I never get to see what happens after the class, but I’m hoping some creative book endeavors result and more bookmaking sessions can be brought to the school. I do enjoy teaching and exploring a new campus, and especially liked seeing the cork oak trees on the Fresno State grounds, since we’re planning on putting down a cork floor in our Maryland home.
Thanks to all who made this workshop fun to teach.
