Wayside 4th-Graders Explore Origami Books

For the past two weeks I’ve been working with the 4th graders at Wayside Elementary School in Potomac, Maryland. The students have learned how to fold origami pages and put them together to make their own sculptural books on the theme of Ecosystems. It’s a topic they’ve been exploring in their science classes, and it translated easily into pictures of plants, animals, and landscapes of various geographic zones around the world. Each class met with me twice, and everyone either finished their book or is close to completing the project in their next art class session. Great job, everyone! And thanks to art teachers Felice and Wendy, and to the Wayside PTA for making this project possible.
