Bookmaking helps Women at Risk

Suanne Goings, a student in my class at Arrowmont School of Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, has been working with women in the Ohio Reformatory for Women, teaching them basic art and bookmaking skills. The women have made these beautiful books which address some of the difficulties in their lives and capture their hopes, loves and dreams for the future. It’s a project that speaks to the great power of art to heal and give meaning to one’s life. The result is an inspiring gallery exhibit.
